Beauty Care for Women over 40

by earthscure

It used to be that beauty care meant washing your face and maybe putting on some makeup. Once you get older, though, it gets a little more complicated. The products and techniques you used to use are no longer enough. They might even be making things worse. Read on to learn how to adjust your beauty care techniques once you pass 40 so that nobody knows unless you tell them.

Give Yourself a Weekly Exfoliation

After 40, your skin’s ability to heal and renew itself slows down. It doesn’t get rid of dead skin cells as quickly as it used to. So you need to step in and make up for it with a weekly exfoliation.

To exfoliate properly at this age, start with a good scrubbing with something that contains exfoliating agents and vitamins E, C, or B. This combination will not only scrub the dead cells away, it will also nourish and revitalize your skin. If you are looking to save money, use a paste made of baking soda for the exfoliating scrub.

Get Serious about Sun Protection

Apply sunscreen every time you go outside the house for more than a few minutes. Remember: use sunscreen even when the sky is cloudy! It’s the UV rays that do the damage to your skin, and they can shine right through the clouds.

Applying a EARTHSCURE VITAMIN C SERUM under your sunscreen is a great idea too. Vitamin C neutralizes free radicals from the sun.

The FDA released a statement in July 2019 about harmful sunscreens. In short, chemical sunscreens were shown to absorb into the bloodstream and may be unsafe (FDA article). If you want to err on the side of caution, use mineral sunscreen ingredients instead. Simply look under “active ingredients” for either Zinc Oxide or Titanium Dioxide. These are the only two mineral sunscreens, anything other than these are chemical sunscreens.

Recommended product: a sunscreen with Zinc Oxide and Titanium Dioxide (preferably both)

Change the Way Your Apply Eyeliner

Dark eyeliner becomes problematic when you get older. It fills in wrinkles and fine lines, causing them to stand out more. You can still use dark eyeliner, though, as long as you change the way you apply it. Put it lightly along the very top of your eyelids and along the insides of your upper eyelids, and nowhere else. This will keep it out of your wrinkles and lines.

Stay Hydrated

It is more important than ever to stay hydrated now. Drink plenty of water each day to keep your skin elastic and youthful looking.

Use Retinol

If you’re looking to fix the appearance of wrinkles, fine lines, dark circles, dark spots, and elasticity… retinol is the answer for you. Make sure you get it from a company that cares about their manufacturing, as some retinol is derived from animals and/or can degrade in the manufacturing process!
