DIY Hand Mask (Scrub & Mask)

by earthscure

You’re probably washing your hands more than you ever thought possible. We get it, so are we! The bonus is that you’re keeping yourself safe and healthy, and that’s the most important thing you can do for yourself right now. But, the constant hand washing does come with one annoying side caveat: dry hands

Of course, you can always slather on some hand lotion. But, if you want to get to pamper yourself with a little at-home mask, try this little recipe. Chances are, you’ve already got everything you need.

We recommend a 2-step solution: 1) Exfoliate, 2) Hydrate.

Step 1) Exfoliate

We have a really simple DIY recipe.

Materials:

  • 1 lemon
  • 2/3 cup sugar of your choice (we use cane sugar)
  • ¼ cup of either olive oil, coconut oil or avocado oil. (We use olive oil.)

Instructions:

Simply pour the sugar into a small bowl and then slowly stir in the oil. The consistency will feel like wet sand. Once that’s mixed, squeeze in a lemon and stir it again. Now for the fun part. Rub a little of your DIY exfoliator around your hands in gentle, circular motions and then rinse.

Step 2) Hydrate

You might want to eat this one, but if you can avoid that, we promise your hands will love it.

You’ll need:

  • 1 ripe avocado (can sub in a ripe banana)
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 2 teaspoons plain yogurt
  • and plastic wrap.

Instructions:

Simply blend all the ingredients together in a blender or with a fork.

This next part can get a little messy but it’s worth it. As best you can, apply the mixture onto your hands and then wrap them in plastic wrap. The plastic seals in the moisture. Relax for 15 minutes and then rinse with warm water.

We can’t wait to hear about your experiences with our DIY hand treatment. So if you give this a try, post your comments below!
